I get much higher (or lower) screen ruling reading on my sample than the expected value. What is causing this?
Sometimes, with some dot analysis or shutter settings, the Flexo IAS finds small dots in the valleys. Usually these have a minimal effect on the dot% result, but they may give the software the impression that dot spacing is smaller than it really is, and this will increase the calculated screen ruling.
There are two suggestions:
1) For small dot % areas (typically less than 40%), using the Highlight Dot Analysis tool will minimize the reading of the valley dot noise.
2) Generally, this valley dot noise is small dots. For larger dot percent areas, manually set the Min Diameter (µm) to a larger value (e.g. 50 µm) on the Options|Dot… screen.
