Database/data conversion errors

A data type conversion error prevents you from writing to the database. It can signal a problem with the database itself, or it can signal a measurement problem. To solve the problem, try the following:

  1. Check the filename and location of the database file:
    • Select View|Sequence Design View from the menu
    • Select Sequence|Data Management from the menu
    • Inspect the pathway displayed in the “Database File” edit box. Make sure the path is valid and that the current user’s access privileges permit reading and writing to this file.
  2.  If conversion errors persist, try creating a new database file:
    • Select View|Sequence Design View from the menu
    • Select Sequence|Data Management from the menu
    • Click the browse button to the right of the “Database File” edit box. Select a folder and enter a new name for the new, empty database file.
  3.  If you still get errors, we will need more information.
    • Please contact support@qea.com, and provide a description of what you see in the results pane (the table of numbers on the right side of the screen) just before you click “Finish” at the end of the process control.
      • Please include a screen capture.
    •  Also tell us what file you selected after clicking “Load Settings”. The filename is displayed in the status bar at the bottom of the application window. Please include a screen capture. The information you provide will help us diagnose the problem.
